City Parks

Current Information

The City of Cornelia is extremely lucky to have 6 parks within the City.   Whether you like playing volleyball at Library Park, playing tennis at Big City, basketball at MLK or just walking enjoying nature, there is something for everyone!

Cornelia City Park
 (Wyly St)

Cornelia City Park is often referred to as "Big City Park".  With 20+ acres, it is the City's largest park.  The covered pavilion near the entrance is very popular.
The new restrooms & improved Pavilion area are open.  Please be considerate of others & help us keep them clean!

We held our Ribbon Cutting on July 22, 2009 for the official opening of the the City Park Trail.  It is a one-third-mile paved trail that includes a wooden foot-bridge.  The trail is handicapped accessible and so far dog friendly. (Please clean up after your dog so the park trail can remain dog friendly!)  The Garden Club labeled some of the plants so you can learn a little about local fauna while you stroll through the trail.  Parking is at the entrance of the park.
The trail is a great upgrade to the park and you should go try it out!
We have received another grant to extend our walking trail so we will begin construction soon.  Look for the trail to become even better!

Mayor Margaret Ballard, City Commissioners (Wes Dodd, Don Bagwell, Brenda Garcia, Tony Cook), City Manager, Donald Anderson, Special Projects Mgr., Mona Painter, Eric Armstrong, County Manager, Janeann Allison, Asst. County Mgr, Jason Tinsley and other dignitaries cut the ribbon for the grand opening.
