What is okay to put down my drain?

The City of Cornelia would like to ask its citizens to join in cooperation with the City’s Water Pollution Control Plant in helping the City to maintain proper treatment standards, policies, and practices. The citizens can make a difference by ensuring that chemicals and household products are disposed of properly by not disposing of them down the drain. Also by helping to conserve water you can help the City by not having to treat as much wastewater.

Questions about Septic tanks?

Before installing septic tanks or repairing them you need to consult with the County Health Department & the City of Cornelia. There are policies for place for  siting, inspection & maintenance of septic tank systems. 

Disposing of household products down the drain may cause failure or require maintenance to your system. To determine if a product is hazardous please read the ingredients and warning labels.
